a cauldron full of hot, strong love!
Okay.
Remember my reaction to Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith?
(Brief recap: YAY!!!)
Remember my reaction to Batman Begins?
(Brief recap: SO GOOD!!)
Now, COMBINE THEM. Oh yes.
Man, okay, I hated OotP. Like, really hated it. But this one I wanted to read again the very instant I’d finished it. A return of mojo or something. I don’t know. Whatever it is, I love this book and I think it might be my new second favourite.
Harry is mah boy again, oh yes he is. Oh yes indeed. And the trio are bestest best friends ever and I love them and Ron was funnier and Hermione was back to her Hermione self again and YAY.
The Weasleys quite steal my heart away! When I’ve been away from the books for a while I tend to notice their flaws and faults, but when I’m reading I completely forget about them. I am *so glad* none of them died, even if Bill is not his handsome self still. I wish we’d hear more about Charlie, though. I have a great fondness for Charlie. And the twins on Ron’s birthday! Aaaw! There was love. Brothers are so cute. And oh Ron, would that you would punch Percy in the face. It would have been MARVELLOUS. Weasley is my King! :: runs in very small circles ::
Ron is still my favourite of the young’uns. Sirius and Lupin were tragically not mentioned/underused, excepting of course the... :: shudder :: Lupin/Tonks. Which was vomit inducing and wrong and also? JUST GRIEF. Only grief. Nothing more than grief.
It is, perhaps, wrong of me to have fallen in love with Draco just that little bit more when he stomped on Harry’s face and broke his nose. Because I like Harry again, I did from almost the very start of the book. And yet the vague and desperate viciousness of Draco throughout... :: shrugs :: PS: he was CRYING. And he COULDN’T KILL DUMBLEDORE. This is WORTHY OF LOVE.
Did I titter like a schoolgirl every single time someone pointed out that Harry was becoming a wee bit obsessed with Draco? Yes I did. Mwhehehehehehehe.
Speaking of Draco – DUDE, THE SEQUENCE WITH NARCISSA AND BELLATRIX. And Snape’s place of abode is completely not what I expected and yet fabulous at the same time. And Draco’s mummy loves him. Daaaw.
RETROCONTINUITY! Voldemort’s backstory WOW. I love it when this sort of thing is done skilfully and I *love* that the diary came back! Because I adored CoS, I really did. The founders! The secret catacombs under Hogwarts! And most of all, an enchanted diary! And young!Tom is adorable. And a PSYCHOPATH. Too bad it was the thirties and they didn’t yet know that murdering animals is one of the early warning signs of a sociopath.
And Dumbledore worked his way back into my heart before dying. I can’t say I was surprised – Dumbledore was a pretty safe bet for the next to go, after all – but I was saddened. Didn’t cry. His funeral was lovely, though. Dignified.
Regarding the trio’s decision – well, you know they’d stick together. Ron and Hermione would go to the ends of the earth for Harry. And I am looking forward to the next book with the FIRE OF A THOUSAND SUNS. But I’m sad that they won’t be going back to Hogwarts, even though it’s probably safer if they don’t. It’s just... well, you know. Hogwarts.
On a final note – okay, I can’t even talk about Snape. I am so confused. Everything that happened was clear, of course; I’m just not sure whether I think Snape was a good guy or a bad guy. It’s – I mean, I’m seeing both sides. Very, very convincingly.
:: head fuzzes and bubbles over ::
I can’t BELIEVE he was the Half-Blood Prince.
!!!
My icon, obviously, should read "to" instead of "from" and be followed by "in a good way". It's the only HP one I have.
That’s all I can think of at the moment, but I suspect there might be more later. What a couple of months it’s been for us geeks! :: basks and rolls around in THE JOY ::
EDIT: Also on DJ!
